LEARNING CHEERFULLY BY SINGING

Seringkali kita bingung bagaimana menyampaikan materi pelajaran kepada anak-anak agar mudah dimengerti dan juga menyenangkan. Ada beberapa kiat yang bisa kita gunakan misalnya melalui lagu. Lagu anak-anak karangan Bapak At Mahmud, Ibu Sud dan pengarang-pengarang lagu terkenal dan dikenang sejarah adalah salah satu pilihan. Selain iramanya yang mudah dihafal juga kaya akan kosa kata yang tidak berbelit alias mudah dicerna. Untuk lagu-lagu yang disesuaikan dengan materi yang akan kita bahas sebaiknya ditentukan dulu sebelum kita menyajikannya; kosa kata apa saja yang akan diberikan, apakah kata benda, kata sifat, atau kata kerja, dan pemahaman grammar yang biasanya agak sulit dipahami oleh mereka. Tentunya lagu-lagu tersebut harus kita artikan ke dalam bahasa Inggris terlebih dahulu, walaupun tidak sama persis  100% dengan lirik-liriknya aslinya.

a.   Untuk memperkenalkan kosa kata tentang warna kita bisa berikan lagu “Balonku” atau  ‘my balloons’.

Guys, I have five balloons

And they are so colourful

Green, yellow and also gray

Pink balloon and the blue one

        The green balloon is broken, duarrrr

        Then my heart becomes so blue

        My balloons are only four

        I keep them very tightly

b.  Preposition (in, on, at, under, beside) dan menanyakan warna. Irama lagu sama dengan “Are you sleeping?”

It is green 2x

Where’s the whiteboard 2x

It’s in front of the class

And where is the window 2x

Beside us 2x

c.   Materi anggota tubuh, dengan kata kerja have, wear, kata bantu don’t ( The Simple Present Tense) dengan lagu 2 mata saya

I have 2 pretty eyes

And I have one nose, too

And look at my two legs

I wear my new shoes

And I have two ears

The left one and the right

And I have one mouth

I don’t stop eating rice.

d.  Kalimat ajakan dengan “Let’s ......” dengan lagu “Naik kereta api”

Going to town by the train, tut...tut...tut...

Guys, who want to join us

My train doesn’t stop  for a longer time.

g.   Simple Present Tense melalui lagu “Bangun  tidur”

   I take a bath after getting up

I don’t forget to brush all my teeth

After bathing I help my mother

To make my bed becomes tidy

h.  Burung kakaktua untuk memperkenalkan “There is ....”

There is a cockatoo

Perching at the window

Grandmother is old now

Her teeth are only two

i.     “Round shape” untuk memperkenalkan Noun Phrase bentuk bundar, kata ganti milik ‘my dan mine’  melalui lagu “Topi saya bundar”

My hat is round

It is my round hat 

If the hat is not round

It is not mine

j.    Menanyakan informasi   melalui lagu “pelangi-pelangi”

The rainbow... The rainbow

You are so beautiful

Red, yellow, green colour

You are at the blue sky

The greatest painter

Do you know who it is?

Selain materi-materi yang disebutkan diatas, lagu-lagu ini juga bisa digunakan untuk pembahasan-pembahasan grammar dan kosakata bahasa Inggris lainnya tergantung kreatifitas guru. Selamat mengajar dengan penuh ceria  J
