Short and simple Drama: Sangkuriang

1st Session: SANGKURIANG AND DAYANG SUMBI

Long time ago there lived a beautiful woman, named Dayang Sumbi,  with her son (Sangkuriang) and a dog (si Tumang).

IN THEIR HOUSE

 One day the boy said to his mom:” Mom, I want to go hunting with si Tumang tomorrow, can I?”

Dayang Sumbi:”Actually, I worry about you, my son. You’re just the little boy.”

Sangkuriang:”But, please, Mom... I can take care of myself, and I think si Tumang can be my bodyguard, too.”

Dayang Sumbi:”Hmmm... well, I can deny your request, my son, but please take care of yourself, and stay close to si Tumang!”

Sangkuriang:”Ok, Mom, I’ll always remember it.”

IN THE FOREST, THE FOLLOWING DAY

Sangkuriang:” Huhhh....All day long I can’t hunt any animals, even a bird. But I must show to my mom that I am a good hunter.” (Look at si Tumang, who was sitting behind him, a bad willing arised. Hmmm...why don’t I kill si Tumang and I give its flesh to my mom? I believe she’ll be happy).”Tumang, run forward, Nowwww.....!”

Si Tumang ran hurriedly when his master asked him. Poor si Tumang, when he was running, Sangkuriang shot  it with his arrow and it died.

AT HOME

Sangkuriang:”Moooommmmm.... mooommmmm.... I’m home. Look at what I bring with me!”

Dayang Sumbi:”Wow, You’re really a clever hunter, my son. Let’s cook it. I’d like to make a special meal from this flesh.”

AFTER A MOMENT

Dayang Sumbi:”This is it, A tomato sauce barbeque smoke beef with cheese ala Dayang Sumbi.”

(After finish eating) Sangkuriang:”What a delicious meal that I’ve ever eaten.”

Dayang Sumbi:”That’s right. Btw, where’s Tumang? He will be glad if I give him a slice.

(Sangkuriang keep silent for a moment) “Ehmmm, I... I... Act...Actually I killed him, and you’ve cooked it just now.”

Dayang Sumbi:”Whattttt?” How dare you are!! (Dayang Sumbi hit Sangkuriang’s head with a big spoon). He’s your father. I said HE IS YOU FATHER. Now,  Go away from here, right now and never be back anymore.”

Sangkuriang (cry):”But, Mom, please forgive me...”

Dayang Sumbi:”It’s too late. Your father was dead because of you. And I never ever forgive you.”(Close the door very hard)., and Sangkuriang left his house sadly.

Second session: THE LEGEND OF TANGKUBAN PERAHU MOUNT

About twenty years later, Sangkuriang was back to his village again and met a beautiful girl that made him fall in love. The girl was Dayang Sumbi, his mom!!And Finally Dayang Sumbi knew it, and she didn’t want his son marry her.

Sangkuriang:”Will you marry me, my lovely girl?”

Dayang Sumbi:”Well, I want to marry you, but with one request.”

Sangkuriang:”What is it? I will fulfill what you want.”

Dayang Sumbi:”I want you make a big boat in one night. If you fail, I can refuse you.”

Sangkuriang:”No problem.”

SANGKURIANG COMMUNICATED WITH HIS BODYGUARDS, THE SPIRITS

Sangkuriang:”Hi, my loyal Spirits, I give you a task tonight. Make a big boat, don’t be late. The boat must be finished before dawn.”

The Leader of Spirits:”No problem, my master. We will do our best for you.”

IN THE OTHER PLACE

Dayang Sumbi:”My good friends Would you please help me?”

The girls:”What can we do, Dayang?”

Dayang Sumbi:” Please hit the mortar as aloud as possible, and throw your orange scarves to the air as high as you can.”

The girls:” When?”

Dayang Sumbi:” At midnight.”

The Girls:”Ok.”

At midnight The Spirit almost finished making a big boat and this made Dayang Sumbi scared. She hurriedly asked the girls in the village to hit mortar aloud and throw orange scarves to the air.

Looking at this view, all spirits ran away because of scary. They thought that it was dawn.

The Leader of Spirits:”Woi.... stop your job, and run right now! Keep yourself safe!”

Knowing that Dayang Sumbi did a trick, Sangkuriang got angry:”I hate you... I hate you.” and he kicked the boat very hard, and the boat became upside down. From that place, a Tangkuban Perahu Mount arised.
